Practical, evidence-aligned strategies for meeting protein needs when appetite is suppressed for any reason.
When appetite is gone, the barrier isn't willpower — it's physical volume. A chicken breast and a shake contain similar protein; one takes twenty minutes of chewing you don't want to do. Shift toward protein-dense, low-volume foods and you solve most of the problem.
Liquid calories bypass the fullness problem better than anything else. A shake with milk, whey and a scoop of a greens or fiber blend such as Dolce Superfoods covers protein, micronutrients and fiber in something you can finish in two minutes.
Appetite is usually highest in the morning and worst by evening. Getting a large share of your protein early means the hard part of the day carries less of the load.
Greek yogurt, cottage cheese, eggs, whey, lean deli meat, tuna, and protein-fortified dairy. Boring, dense, effective.
If your lifts are holding steady, you're getting enough. If they're sliding week over week, protein or total food is short — that's your signal, and it's more reliable than how hungry you feel.
Shift to protein-dense, low-volume foods and drink some of it. Front-load the day.
They're a practical tool when solid food is hard.
