Semax and Selank: Approval Status Outside the US and What's Known

Factual overview of Semax and Selank — where they're approved, where they aren't, and the state of the research.

What this page is: a factual summary of regulatory status and published evidence, compiled from public sources. What it is not: medical advice, a recommendation, an endorsement, or instructions for use. No dosing information appears anywhere on this page. Nothing here is for sale and no product links appear — this page carries no commercial relationship of any kind. Decisions about any substance belong with you and a licensed physician.

Approval status

Semax and Selank are peptide compounds developed in Russia, where both have been approved for certain clinical uses. Neither is approved by the FDA in the United States, and neither may be lawfully sold for human consumption there. In the US they appear as research-use-only chemicals.

What research exists

Most published studies originate from Russian research institutions. Independent replication in Western peer-reviewed literature is limited, and large-scale controlled trials meeting FDA standards have not been conducted. This doesn't mean the compounds don't work — it means the evidence base most regulators would require doesn't currently exist in the public literature.

Practical unknowns

Long-term safety data outside the approved indications is thin. As with all research-labeled products, purity and concentration are not regulated or guaranteed.

Context

For cognitive and mood concerns, evaluated treatments exist and a physician can discuss them. That's the appropriate route rather than sourcing unapproved compounds online.
