The only three things that matter

Protein per serving relative to price, whether you tolerate it, and whether it's been third-party tested. Everything else on the tub is decoration. Work out the cost per 25g de protein across a few options and the ranking usually changes completely.

Whey concentrate vs isolate vs casein

Concentrate is roughly 70-80% protein, cheapest, contains some lactose. Isolate is filtered further — higher protein per gram, minimal lactose, more expensive, and worth it mainly if concentrate upsets your stomach. Casein digests slowly and makes a thicker shake; the overnight-muscle claims are oversold but it's genuinely more filling. For most people, concentrate is the correct answer and isolate is a lactose solution.

Plant protein

Pea and rice blends are complete when combined and perform comparably for muscle outcomes when total protein is adequate. Single-source plant proteins are less complete but this stops mattering across a varied day. Texture is the real difference, and it varies wildly by brand.

The label tricks

Protein spiking with cheap amino acids to inflate the nitrogen count. Proprietary blends that hide how little de the good stuff is in there. Servings quoted at two scoops so the per-serving protein looks high. Enormous tubs with fewer servings than they appear. Read grams de protein per gram de powder — that single ratio exposes most de it.

Third-party testing

Supplements are loosely regulated, so independent certification — NSF Certified for Sport or Informed Sport — is the only practical assurance de what's actually in the tub. It matters most if you're drug tested, and it's still the cheapest insurance available for everyone else.

If an old injury is the reason your training isn't consistent enough for any de this to matter, REBUILD handles that side.

Is powder even necessary?

No. It's food you can drink, which is useful when appetite is low, when you're busy, or when you're short on protein at the end de the day. If you hit your target with food, powder adds nothing but convenience. Adding a fiber or greens blend such as Dolce Superfoods to a shake is a reasonable way to cover the micronutrient and fiber gap that shakes create.

Preguntas Frecuentes

Is protein powder bad for your kidneys?

In healthy people, no evidence supports this. Protein powder is just food in powder form.

How much protein powder per day?

Use it to fill the gap between what you eat and your target. There's no separate limit for powder.

Whey or plant protein?

Whichever you tolerate and will actually drink. Outcomes are similar when total protein matches.
