What is the drive from Park Ridge like?
Fifteen minutes on a normal day, east across the river and the forest preserve. Touhy Avenue is the direct line; Dempster does the same job a little to the north and is the prettier half of the trip through the preserve.
It is the longest drive of the towns on this list and still shorter than most people's commute to a health club with a parking deck. You leave the car on the street or the driveway.
The gym is the garage at my house, so the street address is not printed anywhere. It comes to you in the booking confirmation, with the door to use and where to park.
What does it cost?
Sessions one on one are $68 each. Four are $248, twelve are $698, and the twelve pack carries a free thirteenth session. Small group is $28 a person a session, or $298 a person for the twelve pack.
Nothing is charged up front and there is no membership. You buy sessions and you get a program written from a real intake, which is the part a room full of equipment does not sell you.
The online plans, for the weeks you cannot make the drive, are $149 once or $199 a month on the coaching page.
Who in Park Ridge does this suit?
Park Ridge runs on shifts more than most of the towns around here. A hospital badge or an airline roster does not care what time a class starts, and a training slot that only exists at six in the evening is useless to somebody who works nights that week.
So the fit is the person who needs the appointment moved around a rota rather than the other way round: a mid-morning session on a day off, a seven o'clock start before a day shift, two sessions one week and one the next.
It also suits a parent whose week is already carved up by school and sport, and who wants the hour that belongs to them to be the hour that actually works. It does not suit anyone under eighteen or anyone a doctor has told to hold off.
Which equipment is in the garage?
Free weights and floor. A bar, plates, a rack, dumbbells, bands, and enough room to carry something heavy from one end to the other. No machines, no cardio wall, no queue.
That is a deliberate choice rather than a budget one. A bar teaches a body to brace and to move as one piece, and the coaching in a session is mostly about what the bar tells me and what I tell you back.
Every lift you meet here has an animated guide in the exercise library, which is useful when you are back on a night shift and want to check a cue at two in the morning.
Does it run in winter?
It does not. The garage is not insulated for a Chicago January, so in-person sessions run roughly spring through fall and pause when the cold sets in. It is on the page rather than buried, because a fifteen minute drive in February is not something to find out later.
Online coaching is the winter half at $199 a month, with weekly check-ins and form feedback on the videos you send. A one-time custom plan is $149. Nothing resets when you move between them.
If the season is nearly done when you find this page, ask before buying twelve. We size the pack to the weeks that remain.
How do you book from Park Ridge?
The form on this page asks for your goal, the days that work and anything a doctor has said. I answer within two days with the address and the first slots that fit your rota.
Or call or text (847) 387-0244 and say which shift pattern you are on. The Morton Grove in-person page covers the offer in full, and the application is the way in if online coaching is the better fit for now.
Nearby towns with their own page: Niles is between us on the way east, and Glenview is north of the both of us.
Questions from Park Ridge
Can sessions move around a shift rota?
Yes, and they are expected to. Send me the rota when you know it and we book against it. A fixed weekly slot is easier when your week is fixed, and when it is not, we book two or three ahead each time.
How long is a session?
About an hour, warm-up to last set. Some days the warm-up takes longer because of what you walked in with, and that is fine. You are not being timed out of the room.
What do I need to bring?
Flat shoes and water, nothing else. There is no locker room and no shower, so come dressed to train and plan to go straight home afterwards.
Can I book by phone instead of the form?
Yes. Call or text (847) 387-0244. The form still gets sent afterwards, because the health questions on it are the ones I need answered before you pick anything up.
Do you write nutrition as well?
Nutrition coaching is part of the online plans rather than something billed separately. In person, we talk about food when it is the thing holding the training back, and I will tell you straight when it is not.
Tell me what you need
No booking yet, no payment. I read every note myself and reply within two days with the address and the first open slots.
Not driving in from Park Ridge after all?
